Super Hero Sunday

Anticipating Grey's love for super hero's I got him his own special cape and shirt a few months back and I am always at a loss because I never have my camera.  Today we had a fun day outside and at the park and G-Man had his cape on!  It is amazing how much he loves to be outdoors, even though we have to watch him very closely because he picks ups everything and tries to eat it!  That kind of reminds me of someone!!!  Here are some great photos from our travails today!  Nana and G-Dad are coming over to watch the Super Bowl tonight so I am sure I will get some pictures of this super baby with them two!

G-Man flying around the park!  He loves walking around!!!

Grey sliding, he finally loves the slide!

What a great way to spend a Sunday.  I sure do love my two boys to the moon & back!

Grey's First Snow

A rarity in Alabama, we had some snow that graced our presence awhile back now!  I am just getting around to posting the pictures.  I was coming home from ATL from a business meeting so really had no idea what I was coming home to!  After a six hour drive I made it to my parents house to get Grey, but we ended up spending the night with them because the roads out in Trussville were pretty bad.  My mom had awful journey as well.  She had less than 5 miles to drive from where she watches my Granny (and she had Grey that day).  It took her almost 4 hours to get home.  She was definitely frazzled once she got home with our precious cargo, but was glad to be home.  She said Grey could not have been better, that is our little ANGEL (at least for now)!  Here are some photos I got with my iPhone, the next morning.  I was thankful to be with him for his first snow, but was sad that Chris missed it.

Peyton turns Sweet Sixteen

This past weekend we celebrated with family and friends my niece, Peyton, turning 16.  Honestly, I can't believe Peyton is 16 and 2 years away from officially being an adult!!!!  I still remember when I was 15 and Peyton came in this world.  (On a side note, crazy fact is that Peyton was 15 when Grey was born, as I was when she was born, also, there birthdays are 10 days apart in January.  Her's is the 21st & Grey's is the 11th).  Back to the story...I remember holding baby Peyton in my arms!  It was a love I had never experienced before.  It was a love that unknowingly prepared me for the love that I would experience for Grey 15 years later.  I remember when I was having a tough day or stressed, I would think of her (& can't forget precious Drew too), and the bad of the day would melt away.  Those 2 kids ALWAYS made me have a better day.  I still look at there pictures and smile BIG!

Peyt has grown into a lovely young woman.  She is a talented musician, vocalist and creative individual.  You know when you hear someone say she is her mother's child?  This is the truth when it comes to Heather & Peyt.  Peyt see's the beauty in the small things and has so much compassion for everyone and everything.  This is truly inspiring.  There are times when Peyt and I are in a conversation and she loses me 1/2 way through because her creative process is way out of my realm of possibilities.  This is sooooo her mother too.  I remember growing up how this would frustrate me with Heather, but now I appreciate & love it with Peyt.  It is as if all those years with Heather prepared me for the conversations I would one day have with her daughter!   One of the things I love most about Peyt is she DREAMS BIG!!!  Everyone knows a dreamer in their life and can appreciate where I am coming from.  Slowly she is beginning to realize that the decisions she makes today has consequence on her dreams for tomorrow.  This is one of the biggest lessons I learned in high school, especially when it came to my dream of going to college. At the same time, this is also one of life's rewards in that you start to see your dreams become reality!!!  My "sweet 16" birthday wish for Peyton is that she see's many of her dreams become reality in her lifetime.  Most importantly that she works through all the blood, sweat & tears and never deters from her path in order to make them a reality!   Happy Birthday Peyton, I love you!

Here are some photos from the party!  Enjoy!

Winter ONE-derland! Grey's 1st Birthday Party!

Grey had his 1st birthday party the Saturday after his birthday.  His theme was Winter One-derland.  We had lots of winter themed treats, including a hot chocolate bar.  Thinking this was a perfect theme for a typically cold time of the year, however, we had a warm front come through and it was 75 degrees that day!!!   We had a blast anyway & cranked up the AC!  It really came together even though this mama was out of it the day before because of a flu shot.  Dada pulled through and helped mama get everything up.  Nana also helped us a ton and made many of the winter themed treats, including cake pops!  Thankfully mostly everything was bought or made the weeks before.  We had an incredible turn out of family & friends!  We are so blessed to have such a loving group of people that surround Chris, Grey & I.   Even though I did not get all the pictures I wanted, we did get a bunch, so please enjoy!

Photos before everyone got there (of course I forgot to get a photo of cocoa bar in kitchen):
